The Heathrow Airport often gets a lot of flack for being one of the world’s busiest airports. Despite the heavy passenger traffic, this major airport is a rather exciting place to pass through. The celebrity chef-run restaurants and high-end boutiques are more than enough to keep tourists entertained as they patiently wait for their boarding calls. But there are plenty of other amenities that makes it a particularly interesting airport.

Everybody who has traveled through Heathrow knows that there are five terminals where their boarding gates would possibly be located at. The Royal family, visiting heads of other states, certain celebrities like Victoria Beckham and Cheryl Cole who would pay about £3000 to use it; the Royal Suite is only open during special occasions.

London’s Cycle2work scheme has invaded the major international airport! They’ve built what’s called the Heathrow Cycle Hub. Located at The Academy on Newall Road, this is where employees can receive discounts on bikes and the parts, as well as free labor on repairs and other services. Bike routes were created by airport operators for fellow cyclists. The lanes exist to ease the commute between home and work.Parking4Less explains that there are also several designated parking areas for bikes that are free of charge for both passengers and airport workers alike.
The Cargo Center Has Transported Everything From Historical Artifacts To Endangered Species
According to Express.co.uk, Heathrow Airport had once shipped parts for NASA, transported China’s ancient Terracotta Warriors, and handled supercars that were reportedly worth £850,000. Animals that have gone through the cargo center include rhinos, racehorses, lions and sharks. When Lola the hippo had to be taken to the airport in 2012, she had to be given a shower prior to the flight to keep her as comfortable as possible throughout the trip.
