Samsung is about to shake things up in its Galaxy line up with the anticipated Samsung Galaxy S11. It is said to be Samsung’s flagship phone for 2020, but no hard yeses on that yet. In fact, there are many speculations especially about the camera and its design.

Here are the top Galaxy S11 leaks and rumours from legit sources so far:

GALAXY S11 DESIGN

According to known Twitter leaker Evan Blass, it will have a curved-edge display making it an equivalent to the S10e (maybe named Galaxy S11 Lite?) will no longer sport a less streamlined look than its siblings.

It will likely come in three screen size choices: a 6.2/6.4in model, a 6.7in and a 6.9in one. Blass claims that there is a difference between 4G LTE and 5G options. It is said that the 6.2/6.4in and 6.7 models will offer 4G LTE and the largest model will only be available in 5G. Making it a sum of 5 new models.

Another Twitter leaker Ishan Argwal adds that the standard variant handset will be available in blue, grey and black and possibly a few other colours.

If we rewind back to the release of the Galaxy S10, Samsung held the product launch a few days before this year’s Mobile World Congress trade show in Barcelona. The phone was unveiled on Feb 20 and later went on sale on March 8.

What that tells us that the Mobile World Congress is a good indicator of when Samsung will likely make the reveal. Since Mobile World Congress 2020 starts on Feb 24, so we anticipate that the could phone could launch then or a few days before. We’re thinking within February.

Some say that the launch date will be Feb 18, 2020, taking place in San Francisco. Though we would not say that the original report is reliable at this point, we shall wait and see.

GALAXY S11 CAMERA

Nick Oikonomou of MatrixLife claims to have a first-hand experience checking out the Galaxy S11 line-up in a closed meeting. He says that the S11 and S11+ will feature a quad-camera setup with a 108MP unit as the main sensor.

It is said to include a 48MP telephoto unit with 10x lossless zoom and 100x hybrid zoom. Also, we may see it arrive alongside a 5x optical zoom camera with OIS. Oikonomou adds that the flagships will have a new function that will allow users to record videos with the main camera, see a preview from the telephoto and ultra-wide cameras. It could be the Director’s View feature that was highlighted recently.

According to TheBestAdvices, the Galaxy S11 will feature eSIM and a regular SIM. The summary of GSMARENA between the S9 and S10, elder siblings of the S11, both do not have eSIM. Instead, they are traditionally designed with Nano-SIM and Hybrid Dual SIM.

Samsung’s other product line Note 10, also is not eSIM-enabled. Thus, it could be the S11’s role to take the lead in future phones from this point onwards. That’s just a wild guess but some experts say that it’s unlikely for future devices to carry such technology.

However, Samsung was an early runner in having eSIM in its smartwatch, namely the Samsung Gear S2 classic 3G. Since then, there hasn’t been any other Samsung devices that have eSIM capabilities, however, we know that Samsung is passionate about expanding in the internet of things (IoT) market so we shall wait and see how things pan out.

GALAXY S11 PRICE POINT

No credible leaks at this point but once again, using the Galaxy S10 as a reference, you can anticipate that the range of models will be an affordable alternative to the iPhone 11.

Since the Galaxy S10e cost $749 when it was launched. The regular Galaxy S10 with the larger display was going at $899 and the Galaxy S10 Plus was priced at $999. We anticipate similar price points, but what about the 5G? There isn’t any clear point of references about which models will offer this connectivity and how that will impact the price.

We did hear from the grapevine that Samsung could be launching a cheaper Galaxy S11 Lite model alongside the main Galaxy S11, but it’ll likely be exclusive to Europe and Asia.
