Had a rough start and 2020 isn’t looking up? Want a quick break away from everything? Visit Robinson Crusoe Island to disconnect with the world and get a whole new level of appreciation for nature. Slip on your sunnies, swimwear, and pack your bags!

If you grew up reading Daniel Defoe’s novel, Robinson Crusoe, this place would excite you more as you learn the history behind the name of the ‘Robinson Crusoe Island’.  This Island was where Scottish Sailor, Alexander Selkirk was marooned in the 18th century. This is one of the truly hidden gems of Chile where there are only less than a thousand people who visit the Island each year.

The Island boasts about one of its favourite activities – Scuba diving. Get sun-kissed skin while enjoying a swim in the crystal-clear waters, dive and discover the underwater life for a complete relaxation experience. While you’re here, you might as well go kayaking, fishing, and sailing as well (you can check out these perfect spots – Centinela Hill, Puntas de Isla and Puerto Ingles).

Did we mention that this is also a food heaven?! There are unlimited (YES, UNLIMITED) options for world-class cuisine. Enjoy the freshly caught seafood and don’t miss out on the yummy local food. Try the world-famous chivito which is the national dish of Uruguay. It comes with a thin slice of tender cooked beef steak topped with mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, mayonnaise, black /green olives, bacon, fried / boiled eggs, and ham served as a sandwich in a bun, often accompanied by some French fries. (which happens to be Anthony Bourdain’s favourite sandwich too 😉)

Before you leave the town, pick up some souvenirs for your family and friends at home, and get yourself some temporary tattoos and braid your hair (there are many vendors around town).
