North Korea, or officially known as the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea is situated in the northern part of Korea. Cities like Pyongyang, Hamhung and Chongjin are known to be the largest cities in North Korea. Language used in North Korea is known as munhwa or cultured language, different from South Korea in terms of dialect – the Chinese, Manchu or Western origins that have been mixed together has been eliminated from munhwa.
Despite the strong Chinese influence that Korea has had, they managed to shape their own unique identity. After the Japanese took over, North Korea experienced lesser of the foreign influence. Now the Korean heritage is protected by the state.
South Korea, known officially as Republic of Korea leads a distinctive urban lifestyle. It’s divided into 8 provinces, 1 special self-governing province (Jeju), 6 metropolitan cities, 1 special city (Seoul) and 1 metropolitan autonomous city (Sejong). The main capital city, Seoul is also the country’s largest city and chief industrial center.
Despite the heavy influence and changes from various parties, industrialization and also urbanization; like North Korea, South Korea has managed to maintain its culture. The government in South Korea encourages traditional arts as well as modern forms.

Mostly filled with skyscrapers and urbanized buildings, the night view in Hong Kong will take your breath away. Known as the Land of the Rising Sun, Japan has a total of 6,852 islands extending all along the Pacific coast of East Asia. Consisting of 47 prefectures, each of them are looked out for by elected governors, legislatures and administrative bureaucracy.
Home to one of the highest peaks in Asia – Mount Fuji – Japan has over 20 World Heritage Sites that attracts a large population of tourist every year. From the cherry blossoms in Himeji Castle to historic monuments of Ancient Kyoto and Nara – Japan is full of traditional culture that is still being upheld till today.
